CARS
So, let's have a look in the internal structure of rally car.
In outward appearance it looks very similar to a normal car. The exterior of the rally car is the only one resemblance with a usual one. Accordingly FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) conditions, the rally cars should be produced in multiple units (minimum 25000 pieces). But inside…. black-reinforced plastic, titanium, current technology, steel safety skeleton and self-contained fire extinguishing system, multi graded speed-change box and full driving gear… Under the bonnet is located a turbo oposite engine with 2 liters capacity.
It take nearly 3 weeks for a 6 persons team to produce a WRC car. The car is disassembled and elementwise all the assemblages are extended to the body. It is more durable than the usual one as the safety skeleton is mounted on it. The car is assembled and it looks like a usual one, only it is adjusted with aerodynamic wrong weight and other protection accessoryes.
History
The statistic can tell about successes of Subaru Impeza: 6 victories in World Championship and in general 46 victories.
For long time Impeza became a legendary car in rally competitions. Its history starts from 1993 and from that time it do not stop to amaze its fans.
Impeza car was driven by âûñòóïàëè Ari Vatanen , Kenneth Eriksson, Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Makkinen è Richard Burns - great cars worth to be driven by famous pilots. In present Impreza WRC is associated with Petter Solberg's name.
Engine
The engine's basis is the same as in the usual car. But due to multiple technical decissions ist capacity increase.
The engine- aflat -opposite, 4-th cylinder, 16 valves and turbo-charger.
Displacement: 1994 cm
Bore: 92 mm
Stroke: 75 mm
The capacity - 300 horse power / 5500 revo.
The propeller torque - 60 kg/m / 4000 revo.
The exhaust arrangement is covered inside with ceramics, builded with special fire-resistant material. At exterior is made by aluminium.
Th eturbo-charger is IHI model, meeting the requirements WRC(34 mm).
Plugs - DENSO
The capacity of fuel tank - 80 liters.
The six levels speed change box have manual switch transmission. It is situated under the steering wheel what is very convenient for driver.
The clutch pedal is used only for start. The rest of operations are exercised by the computer. The computer swithing takes nearly 50 millisecond, 10 times faster than with usual speed change box.
The speed change box is electro liquid operated.
The asenssement of driving moment - front/back:50/50
Differential gear- dirigible
Driving gear - overall
The front suspension arm -McFerson, self-contained, resilient
The back suspension- McFerson with longitudinal and transversal lever arm.
The shock-absorber - Sachs adjustable
The brakes- AP Racing, diameter 305 mm, ventilated. The fron and back slide assemblies are four-cylinder. On the championship asphalt etapes, the front brke disck have a diameter 366 mm and a support with six-cylinder.
The jerky steering, control road with boosting device.
The wheels BBS
The powerful brakes and big brake dicks permit the car to stop quick. But it could not work in the case of bad clutch.
For a better clutch, rally cars are fitted with 18 inches wheels. It happens that during rally the whells are changed nearly 7 times. The wheels protector is choosed accordingly the weather conditions.
The speed of rally car is 220km/h. But this cars are destined for momentary speedup, exceptional roadability and braking action on the snowy and firm soil.
